Men’s Secret Busted: You Can Grill
I used to think that grilling was a man’s job. Too hard, too complicated for us women. I mean, all that standing and watching and timed perfection. Until I found out… Nope. If a man can cook, it has to be super easy. Myth busted.
And grilled food is so quick, and so healthy, and so yummy!… Alright, girls, here’s how it goes. You got two choices: gas or charcoal. Now, charcoal tastes like food from heaven. And anyone from the South will tell ya that any other kinda grillin’ just ain’t grillin’. But, it is a little advanced, so I’m gonna save that for a later post. The benefits of gas grilling is that you flip a switch and it’s ready to cook. Oh, yeah…
I recommend the Char-Griller Grillin’ Pro Model 3001. It has a large surface area for cooking, a side burner (if you want to use a cast iron pan on it) and a warming rack. You’ll need a few grilling tools (spatula, tongs, and a pair of heat-resistant oven gloves). You will also need a tank of propane, like the Blue Rhino. The first time, you just go into your grocery or hardware store and buy it, the next time you return the empty tank (leave it outside the store) and exchange it for a full one.
Now, is the fun part! Buy some hamburger meat or a steak to start with, and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning. Cut up your favorite vegetables (I like squash and bell peppers the best) and drizzle with olive oil and some salt and pepper. Put ’em all on the grill and flip ’em when they look ready. And enjoy the best meal of your life. And an accomplishment!
Notes: Make sure and turn the propane tank off every time you finish using the grill. I also recommend putting a cover over it (after it has cooled off completely) to keep it from rusting in the rain. You should also buy a meat thermometer so that you know when it is fully cooked.
